I grew up in a part of Cornwall where large areas were fenced off with warning signs about collapsing tin mines. I used to have nightmares of the whole county breaking off from Devon and floating towards Brittany. My main concern was that I was already 10 and knew no French.

7ish years ago (Late November/Early December of 2019) I got myself a Sony Mavica as part of what I thought was going to be a retro-tech blog and youtube channel, which I was planning to launch in March or April of 2020.

Instead I bought and opened a coffee shop (which, with any luck, will be paid off before the end of this year.)

But I used that Mavica a lot, to take a lot of pictures. Here's the first one.

In that photo, my co-worker (who was working out of the spare bedroom at my apartment, along with myself, and at least two other but sometimes as many as four other team members, because we had been hired to run a satellite office that had not opened yet. It would open in Feb of 2020, and close permanently in March of the same year) is coming to the realization that all the work he thought he'd been doing in our staging environment had actually been done against the new Core DC we were in the process of bringing online, meaning he was going to have to revert about an hour of work and also explain to the people who's work he'd overwritten what he had done. None of this would be customer/public facing, it was all just an internal pain in the ass.

I thought this was the perfect moment to take a picture.

PDF is a final delivery format. It is not designed to be editable, and it shows. If you need to create a document that requires people to input things, PDF is not the answer. All PDF editors are awful.

thinking about it, I actually did remove and destroy an L Ron Hubbard doorstop once, probably 'Battlefield Earth'. Someone left it in the tearoom at work with a bunch of other stuff. Forty years ago; I'd forgotten.

@alexchapman @J3317 @adisonverlice I don't agree; that counts as unsubstantiated, not false. Claiming or assuming it's false implies you have done incredibly deep investigation to prove that is in fact false. Even if evidence is provided to you, it should be provided privately and not publicly
